The Three Ring Dutch Gag is also known as the Continental Gag. The French link in this Gag means pressure is applied to both sides of the tongue. Some horses with low palates may find this bit more comfortable as the mouthpiece should not come into contact with the palate when the bit is in action.
The Three Ring Dutch Gag uses a lever action which raises the bit in the horse's mouth and this helps the rider to maintain control of the horse. Poll pressure is also applied when the reins are placed on the lower rings. The three rings offer leverage options to increase severity.
Ideally used with two reins or Pelham Roundings.
Mouthpiece thickness: 16mm.
