The Shires Hanging Cheek French Link Snaffle (also commonly known as a Half Cheek or Filet Baucher snaffle bit) is a mild, classical training bit engineered to encourage a stable, quiet contact and softer head carriage. It pairs an integrated hanging cheek design with a double-jointed French link mouthpiece. This configuration is highly effective for horses with a low palate, sensitive bars, or those that get easily distracted or anxious by the continuous shifting movements of loose-ring bits.

How it Works:
- Elimination of the Nutcracker Squeeze: The double-jointed central French link features a flat metal plate that contours smoothly to the tongue. This design entirely removes the upward "V" squeeze against the roof of the mouth associated with single-jointed bits, distributing a milder, even pressure across the bars and tongue instead.
- Fixed Mouthpiece Stability: The bridle's cheekpieces attach directly to the isolated small upper loops, suspending the bit cleanly inside the mouth. Because the mouthpiece remains completely stationary, it cannot slide sideways, eliminating the risk of pinching the sensitive corners of the lips.
- Mild Poll Assistance: When tension is applied to the reins attached to the large main rings, the upper arms rotate forward slightly. This action helps to keep the bit stable against the lower jaw and transfers a very mild, non-leverage containment pressure across the poll, encouraging a high-headed horse to round and flex gently.
