The Lorina Loose Ring Fulmer Jointed Snaffle is a traditional training bit that combines the precise lateral steering guidance of a full cheek bit with the fluid, mobile communication of a loose ring. Unlike a standard full cheek bit where the rings are welded tight, a Fulmer bit features completely independent loose rings mounted on the outer side of long vertical shanks. This configuration is widely utilized for starting young horses, guiding green horses, or retraining animals that try to run out through the shoulder, as it clarifies turning aids without allowing the horse to fix or lean on the rider's hand.

How it Works:
- Enhanced Turning Guidance: The long vertical full cheek shanks sit flat against the outside of the horse's muzzle. When the rider pulls on a single rein to turn, the opposite shank presses gently against the side of the face, providing a clear structural boundary that pushes the horse's head around and prevents the bit from being dragged through the mouth.
- Prevention of Fixed Leaning: Because the reins connect to completely independent loose rings rather than a rigid cheekpiece, the mouthpiece retains a high degree of mobility. This fluid movement makes it incredibly difficult for a strong horse to grab the bit, clamp down its jaw, or lean its front-end weight onto the rider's hands.
- Classic Nutcracker Action: The single-jointed mouthpiece collapses into a classic V-shape when direct rein pressure is engaged. This mechanism shifts tension onto the bars of the lower jaw and the outer edges of the tongue, providing a sharp and immediate cue to slow down or stop.
- Optional Fulmer Keepers: While it can be used loose, it is highly recommended to pair this bit with leather Fulmer loops (keepers) that attach the upper shanks to the bridle's cheekpieces. This keeps the shanks perfectly vertical to prevent them from catching, adds a very subtle hint of poll pressure, and steadies the mouthpiece inside the mouth.
