The Lorina Dr Bristol is a strong-double-jointed bit designed specifically for experienced riders dealing with strong horses that tend to lean, pull or grab the bit.
Key Specifications:
- Highly polished stainless steel
- Available in 5"
How it Works: Dr Bristol vs. French Link
While it looks similar to a standard French Link, the Dr Bristol design functions much more severely:
- The Central Plate: The flat rectangular link in the middle is set at a distinct angled twist.
- Sharp Tongue Action: When the reins are pulled, this central plate rotates so that its flat, straight edge presses firmly into the horse's tongue. This produces a sharp, localised pressure that breaks the horse's grip.
- Eggbutt Stability: The fixed eggbutt cheeks prevent the bit from siding side-to-side. It provides clear directional guidance and eliminates the risk of pinching the corner of the lips.
This bit is not legal for British Dressage (BD) or FEI Competitions.
Safety Warning: Because of its sharp tongue action, this bit is not recommended for novice riders as it requires a sensitive, educated hand to avoid hurting the horse.
