The Lorina Jointed 2 Ring Gag (also known as a two-ring continental or loop bit) is a popular, high-quality leverage bit designed for horses that tend to pull, lean or poke their noses out during fast work. It features a compact cheekpiece configuration consisting of a main snaffle ring with one smaller loop integrated above it and one smaller loop integrated directly below it. This provides a neater, less bulky alternative to a traditional three-ring gag, offering riders controllable poll pressure with a slightly milder leverage action

How it Works:
- Variable Poll Pressure: The bridle’s cheekpieces attach directly to the isolated small top loop. The main rein can be attached to the large central ring for a standard, direct snaffle contact. Moving the rein down to the lower loop—or running a two-rein system—creates a mechanical lever. When tension is applied, the bit rotates, applying downward pressure to the poll to encourage a lower head carriage.
- Head-Levelling Lift: In addition to poll pressure, the forward rotation causes the mouthpiece to slide slightly upward along the bars of the mouth. This dual action gives the rider a strong "lift" effect, preventing powerful horses from leaning their full weight onto the rider's hands or setting their neck against control.
- Single Jointed: Creates a traditional "nutcracker" action that applies pressure to the bars and the edges of the tongue, squeezing upward toward the roof of the mouth when the reins are pulled.
This bit is strictly illegal for Dressage under British Dressage (BD) and FEI rulebooks but widely permitted for showjumping and cross-country phases.
