The Elico Cherry Roller Loose Ring Snaffle is an active, single-jointed training bit engineered for horses that try to take charge by leaning, pulling or placing their tongue over the mouthpiece. It pairs a highly interactive rolling mechanism with a traditional, mobile cheek structure.
Key Specifications:
- High-quality, durable stainless steel.
- Mouthpiece Thickness: Built with a fairly thick profile, making it forgiving on the bars of the mouth when the reins are relaxed.
- Ring Size: Features standard 75mm loose rings.
How it Works:
- Discourages Fixing & Leaning: The stainless steel 'cherry' rollers are threaded securely around the mouthpiece. Because they spin completely independently, a string horse cannot grip or clamp down on the bit and run away with the rider.
- Prevents Tongue Over the Bit: The uneven, rolling surface applies specific tactical pressure across the horse's tongue. This constant physical movement gently deters horses attempting to put their tongue over the bit.
- Promotes Jaw Relaxation: The moving pieces give busy-mouthed or anxious horses something constructive to play with. This action stimulates salivation, helping them relax a rigid jaw and focus on lighter rider aids.
- Fluid Loose Ring Action: Loose rings allow the mouthpiece to adjust naturally to the precise angle of the horse's tongue. It provides an immediate, clean pressure release the exact moment the horse complies to an aid.
- Nutcracker Action: When rein pressure is applied, the single central joint folds upward into a classic 'v' shape. This targets the bars of the mouth and the palate to help horses that are heavily on their forehand.
This bit is generally not legal for British Dressage (BD) or FEI Competitions.
